Math Classes

I thought I would give you a peek into some of our Math activities. We are using the Math U See Curriculum this year.
We also supplement learning the math facts with the Flashmaster. The flashmaster is an electronic version of the facts cards. This year our goal is to get the addition and subtraction facts down really well.
It is our first year to do Math U See. All new lessons begin with a dvd of Steve (the founder) teaching the lesson. They really enjoy that. One of their favorite things with this program is the manipulatives which are used to add/subtract and count with. The very first lesson was on place value. Here, James is trying to teach Caleb the place value lesson.
James had even drawn the little place value houses. A little one for the units (ones) place, a medium size one for the tens house, and a great big castle for the hundreds place.
Unfortunately, Caleb was a bit more interested in building with the blocks than learning place value but James had fun teaching him.

Yes, we are enjoying it. I'm pretty sure Julie told me she is using it this year too.
