Picking Cotton

This past weekend we took a trip to visit a place called Pioneer Farms. It is a living history museum from the 1800's.
We were able to pick cotton straight from the cotton field.
We toured the various houses to see how people lived in the 19th century. Timothy enjoyed attempting to pump the water from the well.

After picking it, we removed the seeds, combed it and watched how it was spun and weaved. This was how they did things before the cotton gin was invented. It was a time consuming process.

This last photo is on our water break. We all got so thirsty. Gregory had to walk back to our vehicle to get the water. Timothy drank an entire 16 oz bottle of water by himself!

We also got to see a few animals. Caleb especially enjoyed them. We saw horses, pigs, donkeys and a few roosters. The rooster crowed while we were standing there. Caleb was quite fascinated by them. If only I had gotten that on video. LOL!
