Farm Field Trip

Fall is such a nice time to be outside.  Our home school group planned a trip to visit a local farm.  We went and learned about pumpkins, cotton, corn and butter.  The children also enjoyed seeing and touching some real farm animals.  Of course the best part was just getting to have some outdoor fun with some wonderful friends in a fun environment.

Duck Races with water pumps
There was a big barn with a huge slide and corn kernels to play in.  I missed the corn pictures.  I think I was too busy trying to keep Elizabeth from going down the slide by herself.  Timothy was kind enough to take her.  It was some very tall steps leading up to the barn!
 Petting the goat
Elizabeth was fascinated with the chickens.  She kept going back over there to look at them.  James had a conversation with a rooster.  So funny!  The rooster would make a loud noise and James would mock it.  Repeat.
I really need one of these hay bale towers in our backyard.  I'm sure it is very expensive to have that much hay, but it was stacked high.  I am guessing maybe 8 - 10 feet.  It was definitely an attraction for all of the children.

I love this shot!  Elizabeth was amazed at how big the pumpkin was.
She got to pick out her very own pumpkin.  She chose one she could barely carry.  When she got it home she proudly showed it to everyone.  Every few days now she will go and point out the pumpkins and say, "My pumpkin?"
We walked through a corn maze and learned about how corn grows as well as cotton.  We also discussed the many uses of corn and cotton in our society.
This wagon is so cute.  I really wanted a picture of all the children, but it was nap time and Elizabeth was beginning to be a rascal so it wasn't worth pushing it.
See that sly smile.  Yes, she knows she was being a rascal!
