This was Elizabeth's first time to go to the zoo and Caleb's first time to remember going to the zoo. She was fascinated by the birds that were flying so closely to her.
These little guys were just so cute! See the celery they are eating for lunch.
Timothy is in love with horses. He wants to ride one very badly, but unfortunately he is too young to ride a commercial horse. He was thrilled to be able to spend time touching a few at the petting zoo.
Caleb really enjoyed watching the model train. We later rode on the tram around the zoo and that was one of his favorite parts of his day.Of course, the highlight of James' day was watching the fish be fed. He asked me to take this photo of the enormous catfish behind him. He said it could be an entire meal for our family. Ha Ha! By the way, did you know that turtles will eat bananas? That is what they fed the catfish and turtles in this tank along with some lettuce. The turtles really loved the bananas!
Somewhere along the way, Timothy picked up this sweet gumball that was split open. He carried it with him for 2 days! He was so fascinated by looking at it and feeling it. I just knew Caleb had never seen a real live elephant so I was excited for him to see these large animals. When we got there though the elephant had needed a private moment so the boys didn't want to hang out there very long.
Fortunately though the giraffes were nearby and not so smelly. It was a great time for me to sit and rest for a few moments because the giraffes were active. There was a baby giraffe that was only a few months old and everyone wanted to watch it. A few of the giraffes kept parading around in front of us so we got to observe them up close.
What a wonderful time we had at the zoo. Thank you Aunt Leigh Anne for taking us and touring us around!
