The yard that we left behind was delightful for a boy to play in. There were so many things to explore - so many places to climb on, places for bugs to hide and lots of room to run. I knew this yard would be different. It is a large yard, but lacking the trees we all loved in our former house. One of the children's favorite things to play on was their tire swing. So, my father offered to build them a play structure at the new house that included their beloved tire swing. When my family visited at New Years the guys spent nearly 3 days building.
It was a common sight to see my Daddy with a hammer and saw. Daddy owned his own contract business for many years. So watching him build this brought back tons of memories.
Sharon and Leigh Anne were the "fetchers" they would go fetch any building supplies that were needed. The last day though we had to hurry to beat the rain that was coming so nearly everyone had a hammer in their hand that day.
This boy was one happy camper. He loves hammering and building things and he hung right in there with Grandaddy hammering away.
The grandparents also bought a tetherball for the children. Matthew enjoyed exploring how the tetherball worked.
They even convinced Grandma to come out for a few minutes... however, this is as far as she would go. It will probably never happen again so we took a picture for posterity's sake. ha!
The children have declared this to be their new headquarters for their play world. Not only do they play on it, but I have even caught them up on top reading books. Needless to say, they love it! I'm sure as soon as the rain slows down they will be out there daily. Thanks Grandaddy!!
