For Thanksgiving my sisters came to visit. We still had boxes everywhere, but somehow managed to put together a festive meal. Sharon even decorated a bit for the day. Fortunately, we were able to find all the proper cooking utensils/pans we needed.
Timothy's favorite dessert is pumpkin pie. So, I allowed him to make it this year. He did a fantastic job and every bit was eaten.
Aunt Leigh Anne delighted everyone with her now famous turkey dance. The kids will forever be talking about Aunt Leigh Anne's method of preparing the turkey. The adults will probably tease her about her use of rosemary in the brining. Despite the confusion of using fresh vs dried rosemary the turkey still turned out delicious as evidenced by the lack of leftovers after the weekend was done.Ha! I love this picture because it reminds me of the card of Julia Child in a game we own called Compatibility. I also love it because it shows my sister's playful spirit. One of her greatest assets is her outlook of fun in life.
Our traditions were pretty simple this year, but we did pull out the advent calendar and count down the days until Jesus' birthday. The children looked forward to it nightly along with our advent devotionals.
During December we continued the process of unpacking and organizing our new home. We also attended a gingerbread house display, visited a new church and attended a Christmas concert during the month of December.
On Christmas we had a new member added to our family. This doll below is Willow. Matthew and Elizabeth had to take turns pushing her around the house.
We were blessed with both sets of parents and 2 of my sisters being able to visit us for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. It was a busy, but fun 2 weeks.
