Little Miss Muffet

Children conversations can be so funny!  If you take the time to listen to them it is easy to find humor.  Elizabeth has been learning nursery rhymes for awhile now.  She has learned several of them so she is now able to repeat them back.  Here is our car conversation.

Elizabeth:  Little Miss Muffet sat on a what was that called Mommy?
Me:  A tuffet
Elizabeth:  Yes, a tuffet.  Eating her curds and whey.  Along came a spider and she ran away.

Caleb: Was it a big spider or a little one?
James: What kind of spider was it?
Timothy: I wouldn't run away from a spider.
James: I wouldn't either if I had my net to catch it beside me.

James' version:  Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey which is like a kind of cheese that hasn't completly been processed.  Along came a spider and sat down beside her and frightened Miss Muffet away.

Me: Does anyone know any other nursery rhymes that have bugs in them?
All children quiet while thinking

James: There was an old woman who swallowed a fly.
Lots of bantering back and forth over what she swallowed next and what caught what and why the woman would want to swallow any of those things anyway.  Except the cow.  They completely understood why she would want to swallow a cow because well, they are meat eaters afterall. Ha! Ha!
