Violin Lessons

James is officially a violin student now. He was so excited to start his first lesson today and get a practice violin. When he pulled out the violin to show us he was so careful about taking it out and showing us the bow that was made "of horsehair mommy!"

He carefully placed his fingers on the bow and told us how his teacher helped him to remember finger placement. "The Daddy is diving (thumb), the momma and 2 children are sticking thier feet in the water(middle fingers), and the baby(pinky finger) wants to stay on the shore.
Then he showed us the 4 strings - E, A, D, G. His teacher even taught him a short little number called Mississippi Hot Dog.

When he was asked what song he would like to learn to play he told her "I wish I was in Dixie." :sigh: I suppose I need to introduce him to some other violin music.

By the way, the other 2 boys are now very eager to play violin as well.
