Bass Pro Shop Outing

One of the kid's favorite shops to go is Bass Pro Shop. I think it has a lot to do with Grandaddy. Well, that and the fish. Anyway, the kids love it! Our local Bass Pro has beautiful waterfalls outside. Inside there are a host of stuffed animals and a few real ones - mostly fish.

I needed to run an errand for a certain boy's birthday the other day. So, off to Bass Pro we went. We ended up deciding to eat at the restaurant there. I am not a huge seafood lover, but I do love fried shrimp with lemon sprinkled on it. (I REALLY miss Red Lobster's lemon pepper fried shrimp.) When they brought out the bread it had a topping of something sweet on it. Maybe some sugar and honey? I don't know, but it tasted really good. James said, "This is the best bread I have ever had!" He is a real bread connoisseur too. He loves bread.

One of the great things about the restaurant there is the huge fish tank in the middle and all the stuffed sea creatures. While we were waiting for our food James and I played a game. He would ask questions about the various animals on the wall and I would try to locate them. He was very excited about the Lion fish in the tank. Fortunately we were able to sit close enough to the fish tank to watch them (although not as close as James would have liked). Can you guess which child is my fish lover?

One of my favorite things about the restaurant was the fact that there are NO televisions, but that is a rant for another time.

After we ate we wandered around the store looking at the boats, stuffed animals, camping supplies and guns. I let the boys play the hunting game. You have a rifle and shoot at various objects. When you hit it the object makes a noise and the button turns from green to red. You get 21 shots and James hit 2. He was so excited. Tonight when we were eating he was telling his dad about it. In reference to the game he said, "And it ONLY cost 50 cents." Gregory and I both laughed because the other night I told him I couldn't believe how expensive these games are nowadays. So, I guess its just a matter of perspective.

It was a good errand and I was able to get the gift which you will be able to see in a few days when it has been given to the birthday boy. :)
