In our home we have a like-hate relationship with television. Sure it has some great educational opportunities and there are moments when we like to sit to veg-out for entertainment purposes. However, we are very guarded about what is watched on our t.v. T.V. programs get in your head and help shape your thinking.
The other night, Gregory and I were doing some serious rearranging of boxes. (Yes, we still haven't completely unpacked). While we were doing that we allowed the children to innocently watch some old episodes of the Pink Panther on Netflix. Now, most of these I have seen and they seem harmless enough. One episode in particular though featured the Panther running from a ghost. Poor James who typically sleeps through the night, has had at least 2 nightmares a night ever since then.
This just reinforces my belief that we must be extra vigilant in guarding our eyes and ears. A song that we sing often to our children is "Be careful little eyes what you see." I know right now we have a lot of control over our children's viewing habits, but I want them to learn to discern right and wrong especially in the area of entertainment choices.
